Postgres Operator from Crunchy Data (PGO), which is used to manage the registry database, includes pgBackRest, an open-source backup and recovery solution. PGO and pgBackRest simplify performing various common tasks required during the database lifecycle, including:

Scheduling automatic backups and configuring retention policies.

Backing up data to multiple locations.

Backup storage support for Kubernetes, AWS S3 (or S3-compatible systems such as MinIO), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Azure Blob Storage.

Creating one-time backups.

Performing point-in-time recovery (PITR).

Cloning data to a new DB instance.
Automatic backup to the Platform backup storage is set by default.
